Long Biography
Meg is the author of a YA novel in verse, PAPER HEARTS, based on a true story of a group of young women who were prisoners in Auschwitz. It received a 2016 Christopher Award, was also a Bank Street College’s Best Children’s Books of the Year, BFYA pick by YALSA, Amelia Bloomer List, Cybils Poetry Finalist, and Nerdy Poetry and Novel in Verse winner.
Meg’s picture book Benno and the Night of Broken Glass, the story of Kristallnacht through the eyes of a cat, was selected as one of SLJ’s Best Picture Books of 2010, CCBC’s Best Choice List, Moonbeam Children's Book Awards for Multi-cultural Picture Book, and the Gelett Burgess Children's Book Award for Multicultural Picture Book.
Meg was a history major in undergrad at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has a Master’s degree in Education from Northwestern University, and an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.
